Eunice Stella (Ulrich) Peda was born on January 14, 1921, in Lowery Township near Woodworth, ND to John C. and Bertha (Birkholz) Ulrich. She was baptized on Feb. 6, 1921, in Trinity Lutheran Church, New Home, ND and was confirmed on June 30, 1935. She grew up on the farm, attending a one-room school through the eighth grade. In later years she earned her G. E. D. certificate.
She married Paul G. Peda on Aug. 6, 1941, at Trinity Lutheran Church, New Home, ND. They lived in St. Paul, MN for one year returning to Jamestown, ND in November of 1942 which was their home for 55 years. Paul passed away in June of 1996.
Eunice was a faithful wife to Paul for 55 years, the mother of three sons, and a grandmother of nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Eunice was a stay-at-home mom, but later was employed by Jamestown Hospital as a dietician, at Jamestown College in the cafeteria/grill and later at Sears.
She was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church where she served as a member of the Ladies group and probably held every office at least once. She was a member of the church choir, taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, cooked for the youth camp associated with the church, taught Bible History at Our Savior’s Day School and served as a teacher’s aide. She was a dear friend to many people and was always ready to help out in whatever manner she was able, and in her later years when her body had slowed, she still kept those in need in her prayers.
She enjoyed working on crafts all her life, mainly crochet and knitting, and enjoyed teaching those crafts to her friends.
She is survived by two sons: Raymond F. Peda (Angie), Fargo ND and James T. Peda (Gini), Overland Park, KS and daughter-in-law Bonnie Crilly, Billings, MT; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
