Eve K Schonauer

January 23, 1924 — February 3, 2016

Eve Schonauer, 92, of Jamestown, ND, passed away Wednesday morning, February 3, 2016 at home in Jamestown.

Eve was born on January 23, 1924, in Devils Lake, ND, the daughter of Joseph and Pauline (Lalie) Rerich. She graduated from Devils Lake High School in 1942. Eve went to work for the Northwestern Telephone Co. in Devils Lake and then married Claude Schonauer on June 23, 1948. The family moved to Jamestown in 1960 where Eve held part time secretarial positions at Jamestown Hospital and Wilhelm’s. She also was a volunteer at Jamestown Hospital and Jamestown Public Schools.

Eve loved to sew and was a member of a hobby club for several years. Eve also enjoyed traveling with Claude in his semi, visiting family and friends. In her retirement years, she crocheted towels and did needlepoint, which she enjoyed giving to family and friends. Eve loved her garden and always had flowers and vegetables growing. In her later years, she was famous for her enormous tomatoes. Eve loved to cook, especially baking. She always had goodies for anyone who stopped to visit. Rhubarb desserts were her specialty. There was always a houseful of activity with all her children around. Eve was blessed to have good friends though out her life. She and her family have many happy memories of fun times together. Eve’s grandchildren have many fond memories of their grandmother playing with them as children; they each held a special place in her heart and she in theirs’.

Eve’s family would like to thank the JRMC Hospice for making her last few weeks comfortable and peaceful, and also thanks to Hospice’s compassionate support to her family.
