Evelyn F. Gomke

Evelyn F. Gomke, 82, Jamestown, North Dakota, died Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at Ave Maria Village in Jamestown.

Evelyn Fern Schmuhl was born December 7, 1926 on a farm northwest of Eldridge, ND, the daughter of Edward and Ida (Vargason) Schmuhl. She received her elementary education in rural schools near Eldridge. She loved the farm and helped her parents on the family farm until her marriage to William Gomke on December 2, 1955 in Jamestown. They resided in Jamestown where she raised their family.

Evelyn enjoyed playing cards and various games, crocheting and quilting.

Evelyn is survived by a daughter, Marian (Jay) Van Eaton, Jamestown; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one brother, Edwin (Mildred) Schmuhl, Wisconsin.

She was preceded in death by her husband and three sisters, Elaine, Edna and Esther.

Funeral Service: 10:30 AM, Saturday, April 11, 2009 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Jamestown with Pastor Rich Fitzer officiating.

Visitation: 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Friday, April 10, 2009 at the Eddy Funeral Home in Jamestown, North Dakota.

Burial in the spring: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown, North Dakota.
