Evelyn Grimes, 83, Jamestown, ND died at Hi-Acres Manor on Saturday, November 7, 2009.

Evelyn Elizabeth Cox was born on November 9, 1925 at Jamestown, ND the daughter of Cyril Charleton and Rose Elizabeth (Balster) Cox. She attended school in Jamestown and graduated from Jamestown High School in 1943. Following her graduation she worked for several years in the office at Midwest Motor Express of Jamestown. She married Joseph Grimes in Jamestown on September 25, 1948. They settled in Jamestown and have lived here since. Evelyn has been a lifetime member of Weight Watchers and worked for them for many years.

Survivors include her husband; 3 daughters, Elizabeth (Gene) Wanzek, Cleveland, ND, Joan (Chip) Lee, Eden Prairie, MN, and Theresa (Michael) Glasser, New Orleans, LA; 3 sons, Michael (Deborah) Randall, Mesa, AZ, Vince and Greg (Carrie), both Jamestown, ND; 19 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Donna Lipetzky, Kensal, ND and Geraldine Williams, The Dells, Oregon and 3 brothers, Jim Cox, Barnesville, MN, Don (Myrna) Cox, Tacoma, WA and Alex (Jeanne) Cox, Tacoma, WA. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; 1 son, Charles;

5 brothers, John, Leon, Pat, Art, and George, and 1 sister, Mary.

Evelyn was a member of St. James Basilica, St. James Tabernacle Society, VFW Auxiliary and Weight Watchers. She enjoyed playing pinochle, knitting, embroidery, drawing and painting, wallpapering and bowling.

Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at St. James Basilica, Jamestown, ND.

Prayer Service: 6:30 p.m. - Rosary; 7:00 p.m. - Prayer Service 7:00 on Tuesday, November 11, 2009 at St. James Basilica.

Visitation: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 11, 2009 at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown and 1 hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.

Interment: Calvary Cemetery, Jamestown, ND.
