Evelyn Mehlhoff

September 9, 1941 — May 15, 2006

Evelyn E. Mehlhoff, 64, Redding, California passed away at her home on May 15, 2006, surrounded by family, after a courageous battle with breast cancer.

Evelyn is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Wilfred, and three daughters: Pamela A. Grenz and Lisa A. (Jeffrey) Wutzke, both of Redding, CA and Corinna A. (Joseph) Rowell of Jamestown, ND; four brothers, Kenneth (Dorothy) and Tom (Alice), both of Belfield, ND, Mark of Burlington, WA and Lee (Dory) Bredeson of Oakes, ND; two sisters, Reverend Thelma J. Hembroff of Cedar Rapids, IA and Lois (Robert) Sam of Minot, ND. She had six grandchildren and one great-grandchild, all of whom she loved dearly.

Her parents preceded her in death.

Evelyn was born September 9, 1941, on the family farm near Woodworth, ND, the daughter of Everett and Esther (Thompson) Stoppleworth. She attended a one-room country school in Wadsworth Township through the eighth grade and graduated from Woodworth High School in 1959.

She married her high school sweetheart, Wilfred C. Mehlhoff, at the American Lutheran Church, Woodworth, ND on August 28, 1959.

She worked at the North Dakota State Hospital for thirty-six plus years until her retirement of March 1, 1998. She and her husband moved to Redding, California in March of 1998. She worked for the Shasta County Mental Health outpatient department until she became disabled. She enjoyed reading, antique dish collecting, traveling and gardening.

Prayer Service: 7:00 PM, May 22, 2006 at the Eddy Funeral Home in Jamestown.

Celebration of Life Service: 10:00 AM, Tuesday, May 23, 2006 at the American Lutheran Church in Woodworth, ND with the Reverend Thelma J. Hembroff officiating.

Burial: Gem Cemetery, Woodworth, North Dakota.
