Evelyn Nitschke, 94, Jamestown, ND died Saturday, November 3, 2007 at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Home, Jamestown.
Evelyn Plott was born May 9, 1913 in Alfred, North Dakota to James and Josephine (Udelhoben) Plott. She spent her childhood on the farm in Alfred. Evelyn moved with her parents to Jud where she graduated from Jud High School. She attended one year at Ellendale Normal School. On June 28, 1936 she married Simon Sjostrom. They farmed in the Jud area before moving to a farm near Edgeley in 1938. Simon and Evelyn moved into Edgeley in 1944 where she worked at the coffee shop. In 1956, she moved to Jamestown and worked at the North Dakota State Hospital until she retired in 1968. Evelyn married Gust Nitschke in September of 1962. She enjoyed playing cards, crossword puzzles and crocheting.
Evelyn is survived by two sons, Lloyd (Alida) Sjostrom and Lyle (Evelyn) Sjostrom, both of Jamestown; one daughter, Gladys Fercho (special friend, Willie Fercho), Jamestown; 20 grandchildren; 51 great grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren and two sisters, Dorothy Katrum, Rockford, IL and Luella Triepke, Peru, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Harley and Merle; four brothers; three sisters; and one grandchild.
Funeral service: 10:00 AM, Wednesday, Novemer 7, 2007 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Jamestown, with Pastor Terry Anderson officiating.
Visitation: 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Tuesday, November 6, 2007 at Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown.
Prayer Service: 7:00 PM, Tuesday, November 6, 2007 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel.
Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown, North Dakota.
