Evelyn Schlager, 87, Jamestown, ND, passed away Friday, October 28, 2011 at Ave Maria Village in Jamestown.
Evelyn Margaret Madson was born April 2, 1924, the daughter of Oscar and Alma (Ouren) Madson at Robinson, ND. She was raised in Robinson and graduated from Robinson High School.
On July 31, 1943 Evelyn married Edward Schlager and they lived in Robinson where they started their family. In 1949, they moved to Jamestown. Edward passed away July 17, 2003 after 59 years of marriage. She was a nurses aid for over 25 years at Ave Maria Village. Evelyn later moved to Ave Maria Village in 2008.
Evelyn was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Jamestown. She had many hobbies, canning, gardening, embroidering, camping, fishing and hunting. She was an awesome cook and baker, always making sure her family was well taken care of was her life goal. Evelyn's greatest joy was spending time with her family and caring for her grandchildren.
Evelyn is survived by four sons, George (Carol) Schlager, Tucson, AZ, Marlin (Deaon) Schlager, Keith Schlager and Terry (Char Horstad) Schlager, all of Jamestown; three daughters, Cindy (Doug) Wold, Roxanne Hurley and Tammie Oberlander (Brent Stein), all of Jamestown; 23 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; one sister, Faye Schlager, Jamestown; special friend, Diane Johnson, Fargo; and many nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one son, Robert; son-in-law, Kim Hurley; grandson, Tyler Hurley; great-grandson, Ashton Schlager; three brothers and seven sisters.
