Evelyn “Bonnie” Spitzer, 85, a lady of strong “Faith” went to be with the Lord March 3, 2018. She was 3rd born on August 10, 1932 to Harry and Inez (Crawford) Syverson in Courtenay, ND to a family of 10.
Bonnie married Elmer Nogosek at St. Johns Catholic Church on May 4, 1950 in Kensal, ND where they made their home. She was a loving mother to 7 children. Bonnie loved dancing, playing her guitar, singing, and if you were lucky you might catch her yodeling. She was an avid homemaker. The neighborhood kids remember her hospitality and her many baked goodies. And her daughters remember all the pies that were made, but off limits, as they were often whisked off for church functions.
After losing a daughter and husband, she carried on providing for her 6 children. She married Neil Spitzer on November 23rd, 1971. They moved to Spiritwood Lake, ND. Bonnie then became a member of the Basilica. Neil and Bonnie enjoyed going on spontaneous drives, creating memories and meeting new friends along the way.
Bonnie loved pretty things, old and new. She especially loved JEWELRY! Bonnie enjoyed reading about the early settlers, one of her favorites that she shared with her granddaughters was the “Little House on the Prairie” series. Bonnie also loved to journal. Her last entry ended with the words, God Is Good!
At the time of her death she resided at Edgewood Vista in Jamestown, ND.
She is survived by her 6 children, Cheryl (Rick) Weller, Janel Messmer, Brent (Susan) Nogosek, Nancy Mack, Julie (Todd) Kollman, Aaron (Amy) Nogosek; 24 grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren; as well as her sisters; Cleone Genre and Joyce Brewer, and her brothers; Larry Syverson and Dean Syverson.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Holly; her husbands, Elmer Nogosek, Neil Spitzer; son-in-laws, Dale Lee, James Messmer; her parents, Harry and Inez Syverson; and 5 of her siblings, Vivian Johnson, Marjorie Klimek, Dolores Hanenberg, David Syverson, and Robert Syverson.
The family would like to thank the staff of Edgewood Vista, Rock of Ages, and Jamestown Medical Services for their loving care of Bonnie.
