Faye L Murie

Faye L. Murie, 95, of Jamestown, ND, passed away early Wednesday morning, November 9, 2022 surrounded by her loving family.

Faye was born January 1, 1927, in Grafton, ND, the daughter of Arthur and Mabel (McDougald) Tallackson.  She attended grade school at Mandt, ND and graduated from Park River High School.  Faye attended Interstate Business College for three months and then worked for a Chicago-based potato office.  Then she enrolled and graduated from North Dakota State University in 1949 with a degree in Home Economics clothing and retailing.  It was there she met and married Robert Arnold Murie on September 4, 1949 at Zion Lutheran Church, just north of the Tallackson farm.  They farmed with his brother, John, for 4 years and then moved to a farm at Mapes, ND.  In 1955, they went into the elevator business at Perley, MN working for Peavey.  They lived in Gardner and Wimbledon, ND before building a house in Edgeley, ND in 1963.  They were active in the Wesley United Methodist Church there and Faye began a business doing alterations.  They moved to Spiritwood Lake, ND in 1982 and Faye continued to do alterations and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and selling various items in a craft store.  They spent winters in Arizona while continuing to enjoy singing, swimming, exercising, and reading.  Bob passed away in 1997 and Faye continued to reside in Jamestown.

Faye is survived by her daughters, Candace (Greg) Hochhalter and Lori Bybee; grandchildren, Nathan (Angela Goodsell) Hochhalter, Kyle (Erica) Murie, and Kayla (Jeremy) Anderson; great-grandchildren, MaKenzie, Liam, Addison, Wendy, Samuel, Milo, and Quinn; sisters, Doris Lauf and Ruth Schwenker; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; sons, Craig Murie and Raymond Murie; and brothers, Ross, Harvey, Arthur, Jr., Bert, Bubby, and William.

Visitation – 5:00 p.m., to 7:00 p.m., Monday, November 14, 2022 at Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown.

Memorial Service – 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at St. John’s United Methodist Church, Wimbledon, ND.

Burial – North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND.
