Faye Lucille Poland, 82, Jamestown, North Dakota died Thursday, June 25, 2009 at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Home in Jamestown.
Faye Andersen was born December 2, 1926 on a farm in Kingsbury County, South Dakota, the daughter of Andrew C. and Anna Marie (Kallesen) Andersen. She attended school at Lake Norden, South Dakota graduating in 1944. She married Levern ""Bud"" Poland on June 16, 1947 in Badger, SD.
Faye was a member of Hayti Lutheran Church in Hayti, South Dakota and the Ladies Legion Auxiliary. She served as church secretary for Hayti Lutheran Parish from 1973-1993. In 1982, she was commissioned as an Associate-in-Ministry.
She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening, flowers, birds, collecting eagle plates and statues, family reunions, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Faye is survived by two sons, Leslie Poland, Lambert, MT, and Daniel (Vickie) Poland, Jamestown; three grandsons, Brett, Waylon and Christopher; two great-grandchildren, Gage and Aaliyah; son-in-law, Daniel Larson, Jamestown; two brothers, Donald A. (Shirley) Andersen, Badger, SD and Kenneth (Julie) Andersen, Sallisaw, OK; brother-in-law, Stan Sowers, Hayti, SD; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter Marvel Joy in infancy and daughter, Marvel Gesile; parents; and one sister, Fern Sowers.
Funeral Service: 10:30 AM, Monday, June 29, 2009 at Hayti Lutheran Church, Hayti, SD, with Pastor Randy Eisenbeisz officiating.
No visitation is scheduled.
Prayer Service: 7:00 PM, Saturday, June 27, 2009 at Eddy Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND.
