Florence Andersen

Florence Andersen, 85, Jamestown, North Dakota died Saturday, November 13, 2004, near Casselton, North Dakota.

Florence Hamilton was born May 5, 1919 in rural Corinne Township, Stutsman County, North Dakota, the daughter of Stephen and Millie (Cupps) Hamilton. She spent her childhood years and attended school in Courtenay, ND. After completing high school, she worked as a metal turning lathe operator. Florence married Clarence Knutson of Pingree, ND, on February 5, 1944. They farmed near Pingree until Clarence's retirement in 1962. From 1952 through 1964, Florence, Clarence and their three children spent the winter months in Dana Point, California. In 1964, they moved to Jamestown where they lived together until Clarence's death in 1974. Florence lived alone in Jamestown until early 1981 when she married Arnold P. Andersen. Florence and Arnold lived together in Jamestown, spending the cold weather months with other family and traveling to visit Florence's daughter, Lynn, in Tucson, AZ, until Arnold's death in 1999. Thereafter, Florence lived in Jamestown.

Florence is survived by her daughter, Lynn (John) Kautz, Sun City West, AZ, two sons, Carter (Julie) Knutson of Bloomington, IL and Darron (Kathy) Knutson of New Brighton, MN, eight grandchildren, seven step-children, Barbara Andersen, Crystal, MN; Bob (Theresa) Andersen, Boothbay Harbor, ME; Norma Arnold, Las Vegas, NV; Diane (Rodney) Brown, Beach, ND; Tom (Carol) Andersen, Chadron, NE; Bill (JoAnne Moeller) Andersen, Montpelier, ND and Virginia (Dale Oedekoeven), Moorcroft, WY and 14 step-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, four sisters and two brothers.

Memorial Service: 2:00 PM, Tuesday, November 16, 2004 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Jamestown with Pastor Terry Anderson officiating.

No visitation is scheduled.

Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown, ND at a later date.
