Florence Hanson, 96, Jamestown, died Thursday, February 3, 2005 at Central Dakota Village, Jamestown, ND, where she had been a resident for 11 years.
Florence Emma Egleston was born June 18, 1908 in Napoleon, ND, the daughter of Arthur and Emma (Thomas) Egleston. Florence attended school in Napoleon before moving to the Jamestown area. She graduated from Jamestown High School in 1925. Florence was employed by Northwestern Bell for 48 years. She retired as Chief Operator in 1972. On November 7, 1942 she married Clifford Hanson while he was serving in the Army. In November 1942 they returned to Jamestown and lived here until their deaths.
Florence was a long time member of First United Methodist Church. She belonged to United Methodist Women and Guilders Circle, always present. She was also very active in Zonta.
She is survived by two nieces, Delores Boyum and Sharon (Duane) Peterson; three nephews, Guy (Louise) Lee, Ed (Carol) Lee and Dan (Carol) Carey; one sister-in-law, Evelyn Hanson and special friend, Hazel Redmann, Jamestown.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clifford; one brother, Arthur; one sister, Pearl; and a niece, Winifred Hammer.
Funeral Service: 2:00PM, Tuesday, February 8, 2005 at First United Methodist Church, Jamestown with Pastor Dick Boyd, officiating.
Visitation: No visitation is scheduled.
Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown.
