Florence Hieggelke

Florence E. Hieggelke, 91, of Fargo, ND passed away Saturday afternoon, July 27, 2019 at Sheyenne Crossings Long Term Care in Fargo.
Florence DeKrey was born February 10, 1928, rural Pettibone, ND, the daughter of Charles and Lillian (Rossing) DeKrey. She attended grade school in Weiser #2, rural Pettibone, and moved to Steele, ND in 1940 and then to Velva, ND in 1945. Florence was a graduate of Velva High School and Minnesota State University Moorhead. She married Daniel Schmidt in Velva in 1947 and three children were born to this union. In 1982 she married Harvey Hieggelke of Lisbon. He died in 1998. She was a member of the Velva Methodist Church, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Eagles. Florence was a devoted and beloved mother, sister, wife and grandmother.
Florence is survived by her daughter, Dianne Schmidt; two granddaughters, Jamie Ashby and Rebecca Sanders; two great-grandchildren, Wesley and Parker Ashby; step-daughter, Norma Novotny; step-son, Jerry Hieggelke; brother, Charles DeKrey, sister, Dorinne DeKrey; and sister-in-law, Vivian Berg.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; son, Bill Schmidt; daughter, Annette Sanders; brother, John DeKrey; and sisters, Lillian DeKrey, Iris Luehr, Joyce Hasle and Elaine Luehr.
Graveside Service: 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 29, 2019, Weiser Cemetery, rural Pettibone, ND.
