Florence Ova

Florence Ova, 100, Jamestown, North Dakota died Monday, February 13, 2006 at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Center in Jamestown.

Florence Allen was born December 21, 1905 in Arlington, South Dakota, the daughter of Aubrey and Cora (Limesand) Allen. Florence moved to the Buchanan, ND area with her family when she was a young child and graduated from Buchanan High School in 1924. She attended Valley City State Teachers College and taught in country schools near Woodworth, ND. On December 30, 1925 Florence married Lloyd Ova in Jamestown. They farmed north of Woodworth in the New Home and Edmunds area until 1941 when they moved onto the Ova homestead near Buchanan, where they lived until 1964. Upon their retirement in 1964 they moved to Jamestown. Lloyd died June 28, 1988. Florence entered Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Center in December 1996.

Florence was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, Jamestown. Her hobby was gardening and she loved to entertain her family and friends and especially enjoyed the company of her family and grandchildren.

Florence is survived by her daughter & son-in-law, Joyce & Richard Guthmiller, Jamestown; son, Darrell Ova, Gackle, ND and son & daughter-in-law, Gerald & Darlene Ova, Buchanan, ND; daughter-in-law, Emily Ova, Jamestown; 23 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great grandchildren; one brother, Merle (Elaine) Allen, Jamestown and two sisters-in-law, Ruth Allen, Pingree, ND and Madge Allen, Greeley, CO.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Mervyn Ova; son & daughter-in-law, Stanley & Violet Ova; granddaughter, Donnelle; two brothers, Ray & Bernie; one sister, Frances; brother-in-law, Jesse Bonness and two daughters-in-law, Donna and Berdella Ova.

Funeral Service: 2:00 PM, Thursday, February 16, 2006 at the First Church of the Nazarene, Jamestown with Rev. Richard Reynolds officiating.

Visitation: 1:00 to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, February 15, 2006 at the Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown.

Prayer Service: 7:00 PM, Wednesday, February 15, 2006 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel.

Spring burial at Highland Home Cemetery in Jamestown, ND.
