Frances Reid

Frances M. Reid, 87, Hastings, Minnesota, formerly of Jamestown, North Dakota died Thursday, November 26, 2009 at Augustana Health Care Center, Hastings, Minnesota. Frances M. Weight was born November 8, 1922 in Marion, North Dakota to Jacob and Mary (Wuttke) Weight. She attended Marion area schools and graduated from Marion High School. Franny worked in the Fargo and LaMoure area for several years before moving to Seattle, WA, in 1946. There she met her future husband, Donald G. (Scotty) Reid. They were married on October 2, 1946 and in 1949 moved back to North Dakota, settling in Jamestown. Fran worked for many years at B&O Drug Store and the Jamestown Credit Bureau. She was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church and was involved in its circles and prayer groups. Scotty passed away in January of 1999 and she moved to Farmington, Minnesota in 2001. She most recently resided at the Augustana Health Care Center in Hastings, Minnesota. It is from there that she went to meet her Lord, passing peacefully in the early hours of November 26th, Thanksgiving Day. Frances is survived by her daughter, Mary Jo (Dwight) Oxton, Naples, Fla., one son, Greg (Marcy), Prescott, WI; grandchildren, Paul and Jennifer Oxton and Annie and Alexandra Reid; one sister, Leona Day and one brother, Wilfred Weight, both of Seattle, WA area, and many loving nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Scotty, parents, four sisters and five brothers. She will rest in St. John's Cemetery south of Marion, ND just miles from her childhood home. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and will forever live in their loving memory.
