Francis Schneider

Francis Schneider, 64, Ypsilanti, North Dakota died Saturday, March 22, 2008 at Jamestown Hospital, Jamestown, North Dakota.

Francis was born on April 24, 1943, in Oakes, North Dakota, the daughter of Albert and Theresia (Zahn) Cox. She lived with her family near Lehr, ND until 1961, when she married Ernest Nitschke. They had two daughters and divorced in 1986.

Francis lived most of her life in Jamestown and, with her sister, Eva, started the Rock of Ages Basic Care home in 1987. Eva sold her interest which Francis continued to operate until the time of her death.

In 1989, Francis married Kenneth Schneider. A few years later, they moved to a farm near Ypsilanti, ND, which was her pride and joy - working in the yard, gardening, and planting flowers. In 1999, Francis and Kenny started the Brown Sugar café in Ypsilanti. She enjoyed spending time with people and cooking. Francis also enjoyed mowing her lawn, gardening, rock painting, making quilts and making lilac and sunflower jelly.

Francis leaves behind her husband, Kenneth, Ypsilanti; three daughters, Donna (Bob) O'Brien, Bismarck, ND and Doreen (Todd) Mullen, Maine, and Cindy (Tim) Ikert, Wisconsin; 8 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; three brothers, Ellsworth (Elsie) Cox, Berlin, ND, Avery (Paek Sim) Cox, Fullerton, ND, and Thomas (Kerma) Cox, Custer, SD; four sisters, Eva Gross, Gillette, WY, Lola (Harley) Schwind, LaMoure, ND, Nada Cox, Ipswich, SD, and Ruth (Terry) Metzinger, Ipswich, SD; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Monica Swointek; and two brothers, Douglas Cox and Malon Cox.

She also leaves her church family in Montpelier, ND that she loved very much.

Funeral Service: 10:30AM, Thursday, March 27, 2008, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Jamestown.

Visitation: 10:00AM - 8:00PM, Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at the Eddy Funeral Home.

Prayer Service: 8:00PM, Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel.

Burial: Montpelier Cemetery, Montpelier, ND.
