Fred Nitschke

Fred Nitschke, 81 of Jamestown, North Dakota died Thursday, March 13, 2003 at Jamestown Hospital. Fred was born October 5, 1921 near Fredonia, North Dakota, the son of Christian and Louisa (Hildebrand) Nitschke. He received his education in rural Fredonia schools. On February 9, 1947 he married Adeline Miller in Fredonia. They farmed northeast of Fredonia until 1960, when they moved to Jamestown. Fred worked for Peterson-Biddick Cremery for a short time. He was employed with the Jamestown Street Dept. until he retired in 1987.

He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Jamestown, the F.O.E. Eagles and B.P.O.E. Elks, both of Jamestown. Fred's hobbies include fishing and watching sports.

Fred is survived by his wife, Adeline, two daughters, Linda (Robert) Todd, Jamestown; Monica Syron, Federal Way, WA, one grandson, Aaron (Rachel) Todd, five great-grandchildren, Brianna, Felicia, Leah, Mason and Ashton, four sisters, Lorraine (Art) George, Edmonds, WA; Leone (Art) Schlenz, Jamestown; Elsie (Lawrence) Ketterling, Renton, WA and Jeanette (LeRoy) Oelke, Fredona.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers (Bill, Jake & Art) and three sisters (Ann, Lavina & Helen).

Funeral Service: 11:00 AM, Monday, March 17, 2003 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Jamestown with Rev. Doug Opp officiating.

Prayer Service: 6:30 PM, Sunday, March 16, 2003 at Eddy Funeral Chapel.

Visitation: 1:00 to 9:00 PM, Sunday, March 16, 2003 at Eddy Funeral Home.

Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown, North Dakota.
