Freda M. Barnick, 98, Jamestown, North Dakota, died Monday, February 9, 2004 at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Home, Jamestown. Mrs. Barnick was born November 11, 1905 near Wilton, North Dakota the daughter of Louis and Rosa (Brenneise) Spitzer. She attended schools in Wilton, and graduated from Bismarck High School in 1925. She attended Valley State State College and taught schools in the Wing, ND area and Mikkelson Township near Jud, ND. Freda married Harvey Barnick on May 17, 1928 in Jamestown. They farmed in the Jud area until moving to Jamestown in 1991. He died July 28, 1994.
Freda was noted for her hospitality to anyone who came to her home.
Freda is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Leroy & Thelma Barnick, Jud, ND and a daughter and son-in-law, Rosanne & Wayne Bird, Jamestown, seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and one sister, Helen Strand who lives in Paulsbo, WA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters and two brothers.
Funeral Service: 10:30 AM, Friday, February 13, 2004 at St. John's Lutheran Church with Rev. Doug Opp officiating.
Visitation: 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, Thursday, February 12, 2004 at Eddy Funeral Home.
Prayer Service: 7:00 PM, Thursday, February 12, 2004 at Eddy Funeral Chapel.
Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown, North Dakota.
