Freida Guthmiller

Freida Guthmiller, 90, Pettibone, North Dakota, was called home to God on Sunday, May 10, 2009.

Freida Schmidt was born May 5, 1919 in Pettibone, ND, to Fred and Mary (Kaseman) Schmidt. She married Rudolph Guthmiller on November 9, 1943, and worked hard as a farmer?s wife helping with the farm and raising her five children.

Grandma Freida loved to bake and always had something special for her Grandchildren when they came to visit. She continued to bake for her family until last year when she went into the retirement home. Her Grandchildren will never forget the cookies and caramel rolls, but will especially miss her pickles she would make from her garden.

She enjoyed coffee at the café, planting her garden and flowers, cooking and baking, and spending time with her family. We will never forget all of the birthdays frying fish and enjoying time with her.

In the last couple of years, Grandma sewed pot holders for her family and gave gifts of hand embroidered dishtowels, baby clothes and other mementos. They will be forever cherished by her loved ones.

Freida was a devout Lutheran and prayed to God daily for her family and herself.

She was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Pettibone and LWML for many years.

Freida is survived by one son, Eugene (Charlene) Guthmiller, of Pettibone; two daughters, Marlys (Marlin) Harr of Pettibone and Connie (Todd) Schlafman of Wilton, ND; 21 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; three sisters; Lizzie Guthmiller, Carrington, ND, Katie Kolberg, Harvey, ND, Violet Gruebele, Pettibone, and two brothers; Reinhold Schmidt, Fargo, ND and Harry Schmidt, Pettibone.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph; two sons, Earl and Raymond; brother Reuben; sister Martha Gaub; one grandson, Ryan and one great-grandson, Tyler.

Funeral Service: 10:30 AM, Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Pettibone, ND with Rev. Howard Lyons officiating.

Visitation: 12:00 to 5:30 PM, Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at the Eddy Funeral Home in Jamestown, ND.

Prayer Service: 7:00 PM, Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at Concordia Lutheran Church, Jamestown, ND.

Burial: Petersville Cemetery, Pettibone, North Dakota
