Freida Sevik, 78, Jamestown, North Dakota died Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Home in Jamestown.
Freida Witt was born February 24, 1931 in Halliday, North Dakota, the daughter of Reinhold and Lydia (Genther) Witt. The family moved to Jamestown where she started work at Mac's Café, and then at the Palace Café, where she met Ken. On October 1, 1957 Freida and Ken got married in Jamestown. In 1975 she started working at the VFW and later at the Chuckwagon Restaurant from where she retired. Freida and Ken bought a farmstead four miles north of Jamestown in 1991 and lived there until 2006 when they moved into town. In 2006 Frieda became a resident of Hi-Acres Manor.
Frieda liked all animals, especially cats. She enjoyed gardening and flowers, cooking and baking, and she could bake anything, her specialty being bread. She enjoyed knitting potholders, being outdoors and she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Freida is survived by her husband of 52 years, Kenneth, Jamestown; three sons, Gerald Sevik, Jamestown, Dale Sevik, Forest, VA and Melvin Sevik, Cleveland, ND; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Becky Sevik, Jamestown; three brothers, Bill, Simon and Art Witt, all of Fargo, ND; two sisters, Hilda Lang, Jamestown; Esther (Tom) Mason, Menomonie, WI and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Calvin; daughter, Karen and a daughter-in-law, Lisa Kay Sevik.
