Frieda Hastings

Frieda Hastings, 90, Jamestown, North Dakota died Sunday, May 30, 2004 at Central Dakota Village, Jamestown.

Frieda Trautman was born July 9, 1913 in Cleveland, North Dakota the daughter of Peter and Christina Trautman. She grew up on her family's farm north of Cleveland and received her education in rural schools in the Cleveland area. Frieda moved to Medina and worked as a housekeeper. On December 10, 1936 Frieda married Ruebel Hastings in Medina. They farmed south of Medina until 1939 when they moved to Jamestown. Mr. Hastings died in 1959.

Frieda was member of the First Baptist Church, Jamestown and was devoted to her Christian faith. Throughout her life, Frieda enjoyed visiting with her friends, reading her Bible, tending to her flower gardens and volunteering in the Woman's League of the Jamestown Salvation Army. She resided at the Jamestown Gardenette for 29 years, entering Central Dakota Village in the spring of 2002.

Frieda is survived by her son, Norman, Bismarck, one granddaughter, Karen (Mark) Ereth, two great-grandchildren, Michael and Jessica Ereth, Rochester, MN and three sisters, Alvina Stolz, Eva Ruth (Harry) Becker and Clara McGruder all of Jamestown.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Christ, Emil, Ted and Rueben and two sisters, Amelia Trautman and Bertha Lonski.

Funeral Service: 10:00 AM, Friday, June 4, 2004 at the First Baptist Church, Jamestown with Rev. Scott Avans officiating.

Visitation: 1:00 to 9:00 PM, Thursday, June 3, 2004 at the Eddy Funeral Home.

Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, North Dakota.
