Garry Block

Garry Block, 76, of Montpelier, ND, passed away Sunday morning, February 14, 2016 at his home.

Garry was born March 31, 1939, the son of William and Laura (Klebe) Block. He attended school in Willow City and later enlisted with the National Guard stationed in Fort Lewis, WA. Garry married Karen Kerstein in 1961 and they had four children. He farmed for a few years, and then worked in the oil fields. Garry worked for farmers at New Rockford, Sheyenne, Oberon, and Montpelier. Garry married Janice on June 10, 1983. He had been working for Allen Schlenker since 1989. Garry enjoyed going on tractor runs with his friends, working on tractors, especially John Deere’s. His shop in Montpelier was a gathering place for friends to visit. Garry was a member of the American Legion in Willow City.

Garry is survived by his wife, Janice; daughter, Kerrie (Rodney) Block; sons, Bill (Missy) Block and Todd (Marilyn) Block; eight grandchildren, Charissa, Jared, Lacey, Ashli, Megan, Hailey, Cody, and Dylan; six great-grandchildren; also Lonnie Brown, Curt (Jolleen) Brown, Jim (Christine) Brown, Corey (Dixie) Brown, and lots of grandkids and great-grandkids; two brothers, Darrell (Kathy) Block and Marvin Block, both of Towner, ND.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Robert James Block; and sister-in-law, Darlene Block.

Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m., Friday, February 19, 2016 at Montpelier Lutheran Church, Montpelier, ND.

Visitation: 1:00 p.m., to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 18, 2016 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.

Prayer Service: 7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 18, 2016 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.

Interment: 3:00 p.m., Friday, February 19, 2016 at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND.
