Gary Leroy Carlson

Gary L. Carlson, 67, of Spiritwood, ND, died Friday, April 22, at his home near Spritwood.

Gary LeRoy Carlson was born to LeRoy and Dorothy (Koenig) Carlson on February 14, 1944. He grew up on their family farm in Spiritwood. As a child, he was involved in 4-H and FFA showing livestock at county and state fairs. Gary attended Spiritwood Elementary and graduated from Jamestown High School in 1962. After graduation, he enlisted in the North Dakota National Guard.
Gary married the love of his life, Marlys Suko on May 8, 1965 in Jamestown. They lived near Spiritwood where they farmed and ranched, along with raising and showing registered Hereford cattle. He also raised commercial cattle for many years. Gary's many interests included his family, riding horse, showing cattle, spending time with his six grandkids, and helping his son farm and ranch.
Gary is survived by his wife, Marlys, Spiritwood; two children, Ryan (Lisa), Jamestown and Mylee (Eldon) Redlin, Woodworth, ND; six grandchildren, Layne, Chloe, and Alexa, children of Ryan and Lisa, Jaden, Cale Ann, and Hank, children of Mylee and Eldon; two brothers, Gerald (Diana), Spiritwood, and Jerome (Linda), Casper, WY; three sisters, Ramona Cole, Lemmon, SD, Connie (Morry) Gullickson, Spiritwood, and Judith (Dan) Maulding, Montpelier, ND.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Service: 2:00p.m., Friday, April 29, 2011 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Jamestown.

Prayer Service: 7:00p.m., Thursday, April 28, 2011 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Jamestown.

Visitation: 1:00p.m. to 5:00p.m., Thursday, April 28, 2011 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel.

Interment: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown, ND later in the spring.
