Gary Warren Johnson, 58, San Mateo, CA, formerly of Jamestown, N.D. died Saturday, January 18, 2003 in Redwood City, California.
Gary Warren Johnson was born June 1, 1944 in Woodworth, North Dakota., the son of Harry and Thilda (Warberg) Johnson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Pettibone, N.D. and attended school in Pettibone graduating in 1962. Following high school he received his Associate Degree in Science from North Dakota School of Forestry, Bottineau, N.D. in 1964. Gary earned a Bachelor of Science degree in art and biology from Valley City State University. He taught art in Garrison, N.D. for five years where he was named teacher of the year by the Garrison Jaycees.
Gary returned to teaching after completing a course in floral designing from the Cliff Mann Floral School in Denver, Colorado. He was later employed at Don's House of Flowers, Jamestown, N.D. before moving to San Mateo, California in 1974 where he was a floral designer for Ah Sam until the time of his death, January 18, 2003.
Gary is survived by two sisters, June (Leonhard) Morlock, of Jamestown, N.D.; Nyra Jean (Wilbert) Hofmann, of Medina, N.D.; nieces and nephews, LuJane, Brenda, David, Dwight, and Kristen. He was preceeded in death by his parents and a sister, Harriet Lorraine.
Funeral Service: 2:00 P.M. - Saturday, February 1, 2003 at English Lutheran Church, Medina, N.D., with Rev. Robert Pestal officiating.
Burial: Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery, Pettibone, N.D.
A funeral was held at Hope Lutheran Church in San Mateo, CA on January 22, 2003.
