George Charles DeMos, Jamestown, ND passed away peacefully Sunday, December 12, 2010 at Ave Maria Village in Jamestown, surrounded by family and staff at the age of 83.
George was born August 27, 1927 in Minneapolis, MN, the son of Charles and Elizabeth (Geros) DeMos. Upon the death of his mother, Elizabeth, George was raised by Della Rockett, whom he called \""mother.\"" He grew up and attended school in Minneapolis. He entered the Armed Services at the age of 15. George first served as a Merchant Marine and then in the Army as a Paratrooper during WWII.
After being honorably discharged from the service, he enrolled in the University of Minnesota Law School, specializing in Criminal Law. George then transferred his studies to Loyola University where he was an honor student. After registering for the Bar exam, George chose instead to go into business for himself, where he was very successful in several business ventures.
On November 11, 1951, George married the love of his life, Mae McKenzie, and they recently celebrated 59 years of marriage.
He had been employed by Western Gear in California until he was transferred to the Jamestown, North Dakota division in 1977, moving him closer to his hometown and family. He has lived in Jamestown ever since.
George is survived by his wife, Mae DeMos, of Jamestown; two daughters, Elizabeth (Jerry) Navas, Kona, HI and Mary (Perry) Bump, Albert Lea, MN; three grandchildren, Branden Kyle Navas, Sean Charles Navas and Jennie-Mae Bump; two sisters, Mary (Bud) Chrest, of Richfield, MN; Jeannie Dahl, of Bloomington, MN; many nieces and nephews; and special friends, Duane and Vicky Olson and Delora Ben, both of Jamestown.
He was preceded in death by his parents; mother, Della Rockett; brother-in-law, Donald Dahl; and grandson Gregory Scott Frederick.
