George C. Johnson

George C. Johnson, 85, Jamestown, North Dakota, beloved father, grandfather, uncle and friend, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, May 13, 2010 at Innovis Hospital in Fargo, ND.

George was born April 22, 1925 at Cleveland, ND, the son of Arthur C. and Rebecca I. (Morcum) Johnson. He attended rural Cleveland schools. On January 13, 1945, George married Grace Bayley in Cleveland. He farmed all his life south of Eldridge, ND.

George was a member of First Baptist Church, Jamestown, where he served as a trustee and head usher for many years. He enjoyed bowling and playing horseshoes.

George is survived by five daughters, Jeanette Shempert, Clackamas, OR, Marilyn (Rev. Lee) Downey, Superior, WI, Judy (Robert) Bolek, LaMoure, ND, Linda Whitmore, Lynchburg, VA and Becky (Mike) Lucci, San Antonio, TX; 17 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Betty Janicki, Sedro Woolley, WA.

He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; son, Rodney; four brothers and four sisters.
