Gerald R. Danuser, 90, Marion, ND, died on Sunday, July 26, 2009 at Bethany Homes, Fargo, ND.
Gerald Robert Danuser was born on July 10, 1919 on the family farm west of Marion, ND, the son of Cyrus and Josephine (Solberg) Danuser. He attended Saratoga Township school near Marion, graduated from Adrian, ND High School in 1937, and attended Jamestown College, Jamestown, ND, graduating in 1941. Gerald married Twylla Sisson on September 6, 1942 at the Sisson family farm near Spiritwood, ND. They moved to Watford City, ND where Gerald taught school and then moved to Ulen, MN where he taught for 1 year. They then moved to Jamestown where he taught science in the high school until 1951. They moved onto the Danuser family farm near Marion in 1951 where they have farmed ever since. In 1984 they began spending the winters at Quail Valley, CA. Twylla died on January 29, 1999.
Survivors include 6 sons: Ralph (Carol), Marion, ND, John (Mary Ellen), Denver, CO, Bruce (Marsha), Fargo, ND, Douglas (Mary Jane), Mapleton, ND, Mark (Sandra), Denver, CO and Reed (Ruth), Fargo, ND; 17 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; 1 brother, Chester (Helen), Milledgeville, GA and 1 sister, Luverne (Rev. Norman) McKee, Florence, SC. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and 2 sisters, Adeline (Mrs. Leon) Kirschenman and Geraldine (Mrs. Robert) Peske.
Gerald was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses of Jamestown, ND; Good Sam Travel Club, and was a very active member of the NFO, holding national, state, district and county offices. He was a 4H leader and had served as the Saratoga Township Clerk for 32 years. Gerald enjoyed his family, was an avid reader of ND history, had read all the Louis L'Amour books and enjoyed watching sports, especially baseball.
Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Jamestown, ND.
Memorial Service: 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at Good Hope Farm, 5507 92nd Ave SE, Marion, ND 58466.
Visitation: None planned.
Interment: Dickey Cemetery, Dickey, ND.
Memorial: May be directed to the Dakota Boys Ranch, Minot, ND.
