Gerald "Jerry" Doerr

Gerald "Jerry" Doerr was born July 27, 1944 in rural Tappen, ND to Matilda (Derheim) and Jacob Doerr, Jr. He passed away on December 29, 2016 after a year long struggle with cancer.
Jerry attended elementary and high school in Tappen. He obtained his GED in 1982. On July 3, 1965 Jerry married Gloria P. Morlock. They lived in Tappen later moving to Jamestown.
Jerry was employed at Northern Improvement, Haybuster Manufacturing and Mayer Truck Lines. He retired in 2006. Jerry enjoyed fishing, hunting, making deer sausage, and tinkering in his shop. His favorite TV programs were the Andy Griffith Show and Green Acres. He enjoyed spending summers at their lake place near Pelican Rapids, MN especially when the grandchildren visited.
Jerry is survived by his wife Gloria, and three daughters; Karen Beyer, Fargo, ND, Karla (Ron) Forde and Kathi (Bradley) Reiten, West Fargo, ND; six grandchildren, Brandon and Madison Beyer, Connor and Carson Forde, Nathan and Morgan Reiten; step-grandson Derrick Forde; step-great-granddaughter Eloise; three sisters, LaVina (William) Kleese, Jamestown, ND, Arlene (Norman) Bitterman, Buchanan, ND and Arlette (Charles) Hartung, Sauk Rapids, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, Matilda and Jacob Doerr, Jr.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Jamestown, ND with Pastor Joel Winckler, officiating. A family gathering will be from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Tuesday, January 3 followed by a prayer service at 6:00 PM at the funeral home.
