Gerald Leroy Hoggarth

Gerald L. Hoggarth, 65, of Jamestown, ND died Saturday, May 22, 2004 at Jamestown Hospital, Jamestown.

Gerald LeRoy Hoggarth was born October 8, 1938 in Corinne township, near Courtenay, ND, the son of Ben J. and Rebecca Elizabeth (Nihill) Hoggarth. He graduated from Courtenay High School and attended Jamestown College. Gerald enlisted with the US Army on October 10, 1957 and was a paratrooper. After being discharged on July 10, 1959, Gerald enrolled and graduated from U.N.D. in Grand Forks, ND, where he was a member of the Lamda Chi Fraternity. He married Yvonne Ouellette. Gerald returned to the Wimbledon/Courtenay area where he operated a farming corporation and the Wimbledon Grain Co. with his brothers. They also purchased and operated the Courtenay Bar in Courtenay and the Spiritwood Resort. Gerald received an honorary degree from Concordia College and was a delegate to the Republican party state conventions. He married Rena (Berg) Brimer on September 6, 1998 in South Dakota and they resided in Jamestown.

Gerald was a member of the B.P.O.E #995; the A.F. & A.M., El Zagel Shrine, Mystics and Royal Order of Jesters; a former charter member of the Kiwanis, all of Jamestown; and a member of the American Legion in Spiritwood.

Joys in Gerald's life were family and people, hunting and fishing, and his occupation.

Gerald is survived by his wife, Rena Hoggarth of Jamestown, ND; daughter, Cindy (fiancee, Brendan Tupa) Hoggarth of Plymouth, MN; one son, Brett Gerald Hoggarth of Jamestown, ND; one step-daughter, Nicole (Mike) Miller of Eagan, MN; one step-son, Brad (Carol) Brimer of Mandan, ND; three sisters, Carman Van Ray of Pingree, ND, Charlotte Uehran of Pingree, ND, and Karen (Leland) Wolsky of Kensal, ND; three brothers, Tom (Pat) Hoggarth of Fargo, ND, Duane (Cheryl) Hoggarth of Jamestown, ND, and Kenny Hoggarth of Jamestown, ND; many nieces and nephews; godparents, Craig and Terri Neys of Jamestown, ND; and also special in Gerald's life were Jaycee, Brittney, and Callie Neys of Jamestown, and his Yorkshire Terrier, Kaydee.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Drew Allen; and one daughter, Sherry Irma.

Funeral Service: 2:30PM, Wednesday, May 26, 2004 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Jamestown with Rev. Terry Anderson officiating.

Visitation: Tuesday, May 25, 2004 from 9:00AM to 9:00PM at the Eddy Funeral Home.

Prayer Service: 7:30PM, Tuesday, May 25, 2004 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel.

Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown.
