Gerald Michel

Gerald ""Jerry"" Michel, 87, Jamestown, North Dakota, died Wednesday, March 1, 2006 at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Home in Jamestown.

Gerald was born October 28, 1918 in Jamestown, the son of Jake and Selma (Kastner) Michel. He was raised in Jamestown and attended Jamestown High School. On December 15, 1938 Jerry married Lois Smith in Jamestown. He farmed near Jamestown all his life. Lois died on August 19, 1993.

Jerry enjoyed fishing, hunting and peddling oysters. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, the Eagles, Elks and the Moose Lodge.

Jerry is survived by five children: Jerry E. (Darlene) Michel, Kenneth (Sharon) Michel, Bernard (Donna) Michel, Cheryl (Duane) Haskin and Dennis (Linda) Michel, all of Jamestown; 18 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 2 step-great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Janet Michel, Jamestown and one sister, LaRayne (Milt) Smith, Fruitland Park, FL.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, son, Dale Michel and a great-granddaughter, Chevelle Ann.

Funeral Service: 10:30 AM, Monday, March 6, 2006 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Jamestown with Pastor Doug Opp officiating.

Visitation: 1:00 to 8:00 PM, Sunday, March 5, 2006 at the Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown.

Prayer Service: 7:00 PM, Sunday, March 5, 2006 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel.

Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown, North Dakota.
