Gerald Rudnick

June 24, 1944 — July 15, 2024

Gerald Eugene Rudnick passed away on July 15, 2024, at Essentia Hospital in Fargo, ND due to complications of severe sepsis.

Jerry was born on June 24th, 1944, in Jamestown, ND to Max and Margaret (Powell) Rudnick; instilled with the values of hard work from a young age as one of thirteen siblings. After graduating from Jamestown High School in 1963, Jerry dedicated nearly four decades to serving his community as a Police Officer.  His commitment to service extended beyond law enforcement, as he was a proud member of the ND National Guard, the American Legion for 50 years, and lifetime member of the North Dakota Peace Officers Association.

In 1980, fate brought Joan Halvorson into Jerry’s life when she joined the police department and their love story culminated in marriage on May 6, 1989. Together they cherished a life filled with laughter and shared interests, such as competition shooting, camping, and golfing.

Jerry found joy in various hobbies from hunting and fishing to raising horses, always keeping busy with his beloved family and friends by his side. A familiar face at the Truck Stop and Pantry Café, Jerry’s days were often punctuated by shared moments of coffee and camaraderie.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Joan Halvorson, and his children Heidi (Arnold) Sims of Milwaukee, WI; Travis Rudnick of Dickinson, ND, and Jenna (Erik Walker) Rudnick of Fargo, ND. Cherished by four grandsons, Avery, Aaron, Dalton, Garrett, and granddaughter, Addisen, Jerry leaves behind a legacy of love and family ties. He is also remembered by his siblings Leo (Sharen) of Cerritos, CA; Donald (Darla) of Fargo, ND; Ken of Jamestown, ND; sisters Leona Weiser of Jamestown, ND; Linda (Mike) Calkins of Watertown, SD; and Diane Williams of Jamestown, ND as well as many nieces, nephews, in-Laws, and friends.

Jerry is preceded in death by his son, Jason, his parents, Max and Margaret, his brothers Lewis, Ralph and Robert and his sisters Marge Patterson, Mary Jean Kartes and Evelyn Crowder.

Jerry’s presence in the lives of those who knew him will be deeply missed, but his memory and the love he shared will forever live on in our hearts.
