Geraldine Grace Dethloff, 92, of Mandan Care Center off Collins, Mandan, ND, formerly of Pettibone, ND, went to her Heavenly Home on Septemeber 24, 2011. Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, September 27th at Eddy Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND with Pastor Joan DeKrey, officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, Tuesday at Eddy Funeral Home. Burial will be in Pettibone Bethlehem Cemetery.
Geraldine was born February 26, 1919 in Weiser Township of Kidder County, Tappen, ND, the daughter of Anton and Eulalie (Clare) Kleiter. She was united in marriage to Fred Dethloff on July 15, 1940 in Steele, ND. Together they farmed south of Pettibone until their retirement in 1975 when they moved into Pettibone. Fred passed away May 30, 1989.
Geraldine had a steadfast Christian Faith. She often stated ""why worry when you can pray."" She was a member of the First Congregational Church UCC in Pettibone until its closure in 2002.
Geraldine will be remembered for her unending family devotion, her loving deeds, for believing in the simplest things in life, her acts of selflessness, generosity, kindness, and genuine caring, for her gift of welcoming hospitality, her warm smile for all, her talent of delicious baking and cooking, for being an avid gardener, her strong work ethics and for being a woman of great courage. She was a source of inspiration to all and left a lasting impression.
Forever grateful to have shared in her life is her son, William Dethloff, daughter, Nancy (Arnold) Leno, grandchildren, Julie Dethloff, Dr. Lori Dethloff, Marcus Dethloff and (their mother, Myrna Dethloff), Matthew Leno, Melissa (Kurt) Schmidt and her great-grandchildren, Dylan Schmidt and Teagan Grace Schmidt (named in honor of her great-grandmother, Geraldine), all of Bismarck, ND.
Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant son, Norman Dethloff, grandson, Scott Dethloff, two brothers, Gerald Kleiter and Robert Kleiter and two sisters, Denese Robinson and Annie Rieker.
Blessed be the memory of Geraldine Grace Dethloff. Just as she embraced everyone, we embrace her in our hearts. She will be forever loved and treasured.
