Geraldine Smith

Geraldine "Berd" Smith, 78 years, passed away on April 25th at her home while under hospice care.
Geraldine Clark was born November 21st, 1928 at Trinity Hospital in Jamestown, ND, the daughter of Raymond and Thelma (Zimmerman) Clark. She graduated from St. John's Academy in 1946 as salutatorian and President of her class.
She married Harry L. Smith on September 20, 1947 at St. James Basilica. She was employed at Jamestown National Bank as a bookkeeper. They make their home in Jamestown where they raised their 6 children. Harry worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company and Berd became a loving mother and homemaker.
Berd was active in Homemakers Club and enjoyed making afghans for her 6 children and 11 grandchildren. Berd and Harry kept up with their growing family by keeping photo albums, 25 of them, which they made for their children to share with their families.
She also enjoyed playing cards especially duplicated bridge with the Jamestown Duplicate Bridge Club. Playing bridge with her sister (Peg) was the best. Berd loved watching and keeping book (score keeping) for her husband and children as they played softball. Watching all of her children in sports was a past time that kept her very busy. Her family meant everything to her and she showed and taught them that every day.
She is survived by a daughter, Cynthia (David) Hinz; five sons: Harrison (Connie); Kendall; Charles (Vicky); James (Karen) and Jay, all of Jamestown; 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; a sister, Peg Pokorny, Jamestown and a brother, Ray (Eileen) Clark, Fargo.
She was preceded in death by her husband; infant daughter, Roberta; her parents; a grandchild, Kevin Smith; 2 brothers, Frank and Tim and 2 sisters, Evelyn and Patricia.
Funeral - 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 28, 2007 at The Basilica Of St. James, Jamestown, ND.
Prayer Service - 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 27, 2007 at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND
Visitation - 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 27, 2007 at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND and 1 hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
Interment - Calvary Cemetery, Jamestown, ND
