Gilman Hazer, 93, Jamestown, North Dakota, formerly of Woodworth, ND, died Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at the Heritage Centre in Jamestown, under the care of hospice.

June A. Hazer, 87, Jamestown, North Dakota, formerly of Woodworth, ND, died Sunday, March 6, 2011 at Ave Maria Village in Jamestown.

Mr. Hazer was born May l, 1917, the son of Henry and Rena (French) Hazer in Paris Township near Woodworth. Gilman received his education in Paris Township Schools. He moved with his parents to a farm near Branford, ND in 1936.

Gilman was Township Assessor for 25 years, served on the Woodworth American Lutheran church council, and was treasurer for the Paris Township School District. He enjoyed purchasing and working with livestock and restoring antique autos. In 2009, Gilman moved to the Heritage Centre in Jamestown.

June Topp was born October 31, 1923 at Grace City, ND, the daughter of Eli and Anna (Haberlein) Topp. She received her education in Columbia Schools north of Grace City and later attended Grace City School. June commuted to Jamestown, where she worked for Montgomery Ward, and later for Jamestown Hospital as credit manager for 20 years, retiring in December of 1988. June was active in the community and in the Woodworth A.L.C.W. and taught Sunday School for several years. She enjoyed taking pictures and sharing them with her family and friends. In 2009, June moved to Roseadele in Jamestown.

Gilman married June Topp on June 1, 1940 by Rev. C.W. Baumann at the Methodist parsonage in New Rockford, ND. They farmed in the area for one year. In 1941 they moved back to Paris Township near Woodworth, where they farmed and resided until 2009.

They are survived by their sons, Terrance (Carolyn) Hazer and Barry (Cheryl) Hazer, both of Woodworth, four grandchildren, Jeff Hazer, Wade Hazer, Lance Hazer and Dawn Carr; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Gilman is also survived by one brother, Lester Hazer, West Fargo, ND; and two sisters, Goldie Mehloff and Dazie (Burnett) Brooks, both of Jamestown.

They were preceded in death by their parents and a daughter, Beverly Ann, in infancy. Gilman was preceded in death by one brother and June by five brothers.
