Gladys Bertsch

Gladys Bertsch, 94, Steele, N.D. formerly of Pettibone, N.D., died on Tuesday, July 23, 2002 at Medcenter One Golden Manor Nursing Home in Steele, N.D.

Gladys Lien was born November 16, 1907 in Lake Preston, S.D., the daughter of Stiener T. and Isabelle (Blinsmoen) Lien. The family moved to Kidder County, North Dakota, where she grew up and received her education.

Gladys married John Bertsch on September 28, 1928 in Steele, N.D., they made their home on a farm north of Pettibone, N.D. In 1950, they moved into Pettibone where they made their home for several years. John passed away on April 1, 1991.

She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Pettibone, N.D. and a member of the Women's Missionary League. Gladys enjoyed playing cards, crafts, and traveling.

Gladys is survived by two daughters, Elaine Bodvig, of Steele, N.D.; Wynona (William) Jebb, of Colorado Springs, CO; one son-in-law, Elmer Rath, of Mandan, N.D.; two daughters-in-law, Viola Bertsch, of Florida; Shirley Bertsch, of Jamestown, N.D.; eleven grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; five great great-grandchildren; and one sister Stena Bauer, of Sturgis, S.D. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons (Kenton & Earl), one daughter (Bernett Rath), a son-in-law (Leroy Bodvig), one brother, and two sisters.

Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M. - Monday, July 29, 2002 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church - Pettibone, N.D., with Rev. Mark Schlamann officiating.

Prayer Service: 7:30 P.M. - Sunday, July 28, 2002 at Eddy Funeral Chapel , Jamestown, N.D.

Visitation: Sunday, July 28, 2002 1:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at Eddy Funeral Home - Jamestown, N.D.

Burial: Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery - Pettibone, N.D.
