Gladys Buckey

Gladys Buckey, 94, Jamestown, ND, formerly of Nortonville, ND died on Saturday, March 24, 2007 at Central Dakota Village, Jamestown, ND.
Gladys Glovich was born on February 4, 1913 at Webkowice, Poland, the daughter of Michael and Apolonija (Okalska) Glovich. She was raised and attended school in Poland. She came to the United States with her mother and her sister Antonia through Ellis Island, NY when she was 15 years old. Her father had emigrated to the United States several years earlier. They settled on the farm he had established near Fredonia, ND. Gladys married John Buckey Sr. on June 3, 1933 at Bismarck, ND. Following their marriage they farmed near Fredonia until 1941 when they purchased a farm near Nortonville, ND. They farmed there until retiring in 1980 and moving to Jamestown, ND. Following John's death on January 8, 2003 Gladys lived with John and Nancy Buckey at Nortonville, ND. She became a resident of Manor St. Joseph in Edgeley in 2006. She recently became a resident of Central Dakota Village, Jamestown.
Gladys had been a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Nortonville, ND for many years. She later became a member of The Basilica of St. James, Jamestown, ND. She was also a member of the Holy Spirit Altar Society, Nortonville. Gladys was a good homemaker and a wonderful cook. She enjoyed preparing meals for her family. She was an especially good bread and bun baker, a gift she passed on to the next generation.
Survivors include 2 sons, Marvin (Darlene), Bismarck, ND and John Jr. (Nancy), Edgeley, ND; 2 daughters, Judy (Don) Hoffman and Diana Enquist, both of Bettendorf, Iowa; 15 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 brother and 1 sister.
Funeral - 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at Transfiguration Catholic Church, Edgeley, ND
Prayer Service - 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2007 at Transfiguration Catholic Church, Edgeley, ND.
Visitation - Noon to 4:30 p.m. Monday, March 26, 2007 at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Edgeley, ND and 1 hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.
Interment - Mount Calvary Cemetery, Edgeley, ND
