Gladys Mcgruder

Gladys Selma McGruder, 94, of Medina, ND, passed away Sunday, August 28, 2016 at her home.

Gladys was born April 18, 1922, the daughter of Andrew and Bessie (Olson) Gilbertson, on the family farm north of Medina. She graduated from Tappen High School in Tappen, ND and taught rural schools for 8 years. Gladys married Morris McGruder on December 27, 1943 at St. Mathias Catholic Church, Windsor, ND. They lived on a farm 4 miles east of Medina for 57 years. She was an employee at the Medina Post Office for 32 years. Morris died on February 17, 2007. Gladys loved gardening. She and Morris would always stop working to host visitors whenever they would come to their home.

Gladys was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Medina.

She is survived by brother-in-law, Rudolph Mittleider, Crystal Springs, ND and many nieces and nephews.

Gladys was the last of the Gilbertson children and was preceded in death by her husband; parents; five sisters; and two brothers.

Mass of Christian Burial: 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Medina, with Father Jerome Hunkler officiating.

Visitation: 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.

Interment : Medina Cemetery, Medina.
