Gordon Gilbertson

Gordon Gilbertson, 95, Jamestown, ND, passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at Ave Maria Village, Jamestown, with his family at his side.
Gordon Johnson Gilbertson was born August 12, 1921 in Kathryn, ND, the son of Alfred and Luella (Johnson) Gilbertson.
After high school Gordon served in the Army during WWII and was stationed in Japan. He was a member of the Greatest Generation. He married Audrey Johnson on January 4, 1948 at Zion Lutheran Church, Nome, ND. They farmed for many years near Kathryn, ND. They moved to Buchanan where Gordon managed the elevator. In 1962 they moved to Jamestown where he worked in construction for 34 years until his retirement.
After retirement he and Audrey spent their winters at South Padre Island, Texas. He enjoyed fishing and gardening including growing several thousand gladiolas every summer. He was an avid pinochle player. Gordon was a resident of Ave Maria Village since May of 2002. He enjoyed playing pinochle daily with other residents and his daughters.
Gordon is survived by his children Linda Misemer (Bob Hoffbeck), Jamestown, ND; Sue Gilbertson (Bob Meyer) Castle Rock, CO; Connie Gilbertson (Dan Thurlow) Aurora, CO; Pam Golde, Ken Gilbertson, Randy Gilbertson all of Jamestown, ND and Paul (Kirstie) Gilbertson, Kill Devil Hills, NC. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey in 2011, and three brothers.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Ave Maria Village, Jamestown, ND.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, January 27 at Good Shepherd Chapel, Ave Maria Village, Jamestown, ND with Deacon Ken Votava, officiating. No visitation is scheduled. Burial will take place in the spring at Waldheim Cemetery, Kathryn, ND.
