Grace . Docktor

Grace K. Docktor, 87, Jamestown, North Dakota, died Thursday, August 20, 2009 at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Home in Jamestown.

Grace Kathryn Ellis was born December 31, 1921 in Bowman, North Dakota, the daughter of Benjamin and Mabel (Degen) Ellis. She grew up and was educated in Bowman. The family moved to Jamestown and Grace graduated from Jamestown High School. In August 1946 Grace married Alvin M. Docktor in Aberdeen, South Dakota. Her first teaching job was in South Dakota. They returned to North Dakota, where she made her career teaching at the Anne Carlsen Center for Children. Alvin died October 26, 2001.

Grace loved to read and travel and she enjoyed playing bridge.

Grace is survived by one daughter, Fern (Richard) Pokorny, Dickinson, ND; two sons, Robert (Smithe) Docktor, Helena, MT and Dr. William (Paulette) Docktor, Missoula, MT; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and one brother, Benjamin Ellis, Portland, OR.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

Funeral Service: 10:30 Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at Grace Episcopal Church, Jamestown, with Father Kevin Goodrich officiating.

Visitation: 1:00 to 5:00 PM, Monday, August 24, 2009 at the Eddy Funeral Home in Jamestown.

Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown, North Dakota.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Anne Carlsen Center for Children, Camp Grassick, Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Home or Grace Episcopal Church.
