Harold Thomas Hennings, 91, Jamestown, ND, died Saturday, August 6, 2011 at Sanford Health in Fargo, ND.
Harold was born June 9, 1920, two miles south of Jamestown, the son of Edward and Ann (Young) Hennings. He attended rural schools near his home. He entered the Army Air Corps in September 1942 and was sent directly to Panama where he worked laying mines in the canal zone. He was discharged in November 1945 after three years, two months.
On February 1, 1946, Harold married Lila Wahl at Eldridge, ND. They farmed for twelve years and then moved to Jamestown, where he was employed with the Stutsman County Road Department for 27 years, retiring in 1985.
Harold was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and the Eagles Club. He enjoyed doing woodworking, gardening and lawn care.
Harold is survived by his wife, Lila, Jamestown; five children, Richard (Linda) Hennings, Minneapolis, MN, Bonnie (John) Allickson, Jamestown, Harold, Jr. (Joanne) Hennings, Jamestown, Leslie (Linda) Hennings, Gillette, WY and Pamela (Daniel) Machtell, Fargo, ND; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-granchildren; four brothers, Lee (Thelma) Hennings, Jamestown, Larry (Joyce) Hennings, Arlington, TX, Melvin (Frances) Hennings, Salano, TX, Paul (Barbara) Hennings, Gillette, WY; and two sisters, Ardelle (Harlan) Rosenau, Eldridge and Rosanne Farrell, Jamestown.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers; and one sister.
