Harold Selmer Hetland, 87, Jamestown, North Dakota died Tuesday, September 21, 2004 at Jamestown Hospital, Jamestown.
Harold was born October 31, 1916 in Edmore, North Dakota the son of Charles and Annie (Seyelstat) Hetland. He attended school in Edmore and worked on the family farm. Harold moved to Cleveland, ND and married Esther Gaier. With this union three daughters were born, Shirley, Jean and Sandy.
After Esther's death, he moved to Jamestown and later married Dorothy (Mickey) Jackson. He was employed by the City of Jamestown for 36 years, retiring as Street and Sanitation Superintendent. Harold married Hazel Engels April 11, 1994.
Harold is survived by his wife, Hazel of Jamestown, three daughters, Shirley McWalters, Oklahoma City, OK; Jean (Roger) Otto, Meridian, ID and Sandy Schlegal, Hazelton, ND and sisters, Anna Smith, Alberta, Canada and Thelma McCaffrey, Long Beach, CA and stepchildren; William (Nettie) Engels, Augusta, GA; Gayle (John) Vee, Mason City, IA; Joyce (Jerry) Dunnihoo, Vancouver, WA; Larry (Cindy) Engels, Jamestown; Liz (Rob) Walker, Jamestown and Jerry Engels, Jamestown and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his wives, Esther and Dorothy; his parents; four sisters, Bertha, Josephine, Ruth and Marie and three brothers, Haakon, Arnt and Julius.
Graveside Service: 2:30 PM, Friday, September 24, 2004 at Highland Home Cemetery with Rev. Bryce Tahran officiating.
Visitation: 1:00 to 5:00 PM, Thursday, September 23, 2004 and 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, Friday, September 24, 2004 at the Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown.
Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, ND.
