Harold Wayne Schielke "Casey" was born on his Grandparents' farm on November 8, 1933 in Sheridan County, ND. As a child, he moved to McClusky, ND where he attended school. He attended high school for two years in Denhoff, ND. As a youngster, he enjoyed playing baseball - where he earned his nickname "Casey." He had a love of most sports including baseball, basketball and football. He also enjoyed game hunting and fishing.
In September of 1952, Harold joined the US Navy at age 19. He was stationed for two years in Newport, Rhode Island. In 1954, he boarded an aircraft carrier ship called the USS Ticonderoga, where he served the crew as a radar man. His travels aboard the attack carrier ship took him to many countries such as Spain, Italy, Lebanon, Cuba, Turkey and Greece and more. In 1956, he was honorably discharged from the Navy and moved to Jamestown, ND where his sisters and mother resided. On November 30, 1957, he married Marlene Deuitch. He went to work for the Coca Cola bottling company where he worked for 9 years. When he left there, he went to work for West End Hide, Fur & Metal Company - from which he retired from 37 years later.
He was well known around Jamestown, often recognized in public by staff members and patrons of various establishments. "Casey" was well known for making folks laugh with his jokes and storytelling - he had a contagious smile and a great sense of humor. His hobbies included playing pinochle with friends, watching sports (live and televised) and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Christine (Eckman) Schielke, his brother, Leonard Schielke, his sister Laura (Viola) and Hank Larson, and his sister Adeline Johnson. Harold is survived by his wife, Marlene and their 7 children: June (Keith) Chadwick, Tom (Bonnie) Schielke, Jean Schielke (Randy Meadows), Charles Schielke, Scott (Bernadette) Schielke, Michael (Elizabeth) Schielke, and Julie (Mike) Cumber. He is also survived by 9 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren: Amy (Josh) Lee, Sara Bennett, Cheri Bennett, Michael Cumber, Amanda Schielke, Tyler Schielke (Victoria Hackett), Kaylee Cumber, Austin Schielke, Luke Schielke, Brianna Nelson (Landon Regner), Addison Miller, Declan Glaser, Calise Lee and Tate Lee.
Funeral service: 10:30 AM, Thursday, November 12 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Jamestown, ND with Pastor Erik Weber, officiating.
Visitation: 1:00 PM to 5:30 PM, Wednesday, November 11 at Eddy Funeral Chapel.
Prayer Service: 7:00 PM, Wednesday, November 11 at St. John's Lutheran Church.
Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens.
