Harriet J Eddy

July 20, 1929 — February 5, 2024

Harriet J. Eddy, 94, daughter of Harry and Margry (Holm) Knott, was born in Carrington, ND, on July 20, 1929, and died on February 5, 2024.  Harriet graduated from Carrington High School in 1947, Jamestown College in 1951, and went on to teach at Edgeley High School.

Harriet married Porter C. Eddy on August 8, 1952.  She made homemaking and raising their 3 children her priority. Music was important to her, and she was very involved in the Jamestown Civic Music Association.

Harriet loved the Lord, family, and friends.  She was a gifted hostess. She was always active, even attending exercise classes into her 80s. Golf and playing bridge were great pastimes. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren and enjoyed attending their activities.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Natalie (Hugh) Putnam (FL); husband, Porter; and grandson-in-law, Jeremy Orn.

She is survived by her 3 children: Kurt Eddy (Jamestown); Gail (Bob) Martin (Jamestown); June (Larry) Nygard (Fargo); 5 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 10th, at the United Presbyterian Church in Jamestown with a luncheon immediately following. A private family burial will be held at a later date.

The family would like to acknowledge the wonderful care Harriet received at both Eventide and Edgewood in Fargo.
