Harriet (Ginsbach) Schick, 90, Jamestown, ND, died Thursday, November 16, 2006 at Hi-Acres Manor, Jamestown.
Harriet Ann Blanchar was born June 26, 1916 in Getchel Township, near Valley City, ND, the daughter of Burt and Margaret (Henrichs) Blanchar. She attended school in Edmunds, ND. Harriet married Pete Ginsbach on September 24, 1936. They lived in Pingree, ND where Pete was the postmaster. Harriet and Gladys Larsen were the first cooks for the Pingree School hot lunch program. She then worked for the North Dakota State Hospital in Jamestown for about 25 years before retiring in 1978. While employed at the State Hospital, Harriet served on the State Hospital Credit Union Board. Pete passed away in February of 1981. In 1983, Harriet married Gust Schick. They made their home in Jamestown.
Harriet and Gust were active in both Jamestown and Pingree Senior Citizens. They shared a joy in traveling, taking many bus tours and car trips. They enjoyed dancing, spending many afternoons at the Jamestown and Valley City Senior Centers and many Saturday nights at the old VFW in Jamestown until Gust's health gave out. They also shared a loved of gardening. Gust passed away in March of 1999. Harriet entered the Special Care Unit at Hi-Acres Manor on July 8, 2003.
She is survived by two sons, Merle, West Fargo, ND and James (Shirley), Martinez, CA; two daughters, Lorraine Ginsbach, Jamestown and Judith Ginsbach, Hopkins, MN; two grandsons, Mike and Ricky; one granddaughter, Rogene.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Peter and Gust; one granddaughter, Julie; one sister, Mildred; one brother, Elmer; and one daughter-in-law, Rosie.
Funeral Service: 10:30AM, Monday, November 20, 2006 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Jamestown, with Rev. Eric Libby officiating.
Visitation: 1:00PM - 8:00PM Sunday, November 19, 2006 at the Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown.
Burial: Pingree Cemetery, Pingree, ND.
