Harry Frederich Everding, 80, Jamestown, North Dakota, passed away Sunday, July 26, 2009 at his home.
Harry was born December 4, 1928 at Streeter, North Dakota, to John and Hanna (Deutscher) Everding.
In 1929, they moved to a farm northwest of Isabel, South Dakota, where they farmed for 12 years. While in Isabel, Harry attended grades 1 thru 5 at the Isabel School. In 1941 they moved back to Streeter, North Dakota, to Jake Schauer's farm northwest of Streeter. While living at Streeter, Harry completed his schooling. Then in 1945, Harry's parents bought a farm five miles southwest of Montpelier, North Dakota.
Harry helped his dad farm until March of 1951. Then in March of 1951, Harry was drafted in the US Army. From March 1951 through July 1951 he was in basic training at Fort Lewis, Washington. Then from July 1951 to February of 1952, he was stationed at Fort Bliss, El Paso, Texas. Then in February of 1952, he was sent to Karlsruhe, Germany. While serving in Germany he was with the heavy artillery. Harry was discharged from service in March 1953.
After returning from the service, Harry worked at the Jamestown Dam for a short time. Then in May of 1953 he worked for Bridgeman Russell Creamery as a route salesman. He continued this until Foremost Dairies closed in Jamestown in 1965.
On September 4, 1955 Harry marred Rosella Hack at the First Baptist Church in Jamestown, North Dakota. Rosella is the daughter of Otto and Pauline Hack.
From the closing of Foremost Dairies through March 1971, Harry was employed with Wes Almquist Refrigeration . Dakota Bake-n-Serve was his next place of employment. There his job was refrigeration and he also was a semi-driver.
Then in March of 1971 Harry became a self-employed truck driver, where he continued to work until he was forced to take an early retirement in March of 1985.
On September 28, 1967, his daughter, Denise Jonelle Everding was born at the Jamestown Hospital.
Since Harry's retirement he did some saw sharpening but continued to take life easy. He did enjoy his trips to Libby, Montana and Amisk Lake, Sask, Canada and around North Dakota.
Harry is survived by his wife, Rosella, Jamestown; one daughter, Denise Koble, (special friend, Justin Parsons, and daughter Desiree Parsons), Jamestown; one sister, Ellentina (Tom) Townsend, Sweethome, OR; two brothers, Gilbert (Pat) Everding, Medina, ND and Clifford (Rose) Everding, Albuquerque, NM; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Melvin and Barbara Hoff, Libby, MT; sister-in-law, Teresa Everding, Fargo, ND; son-in-law, Roger Koble, Jamestown, ND; three stepgrandkids, Stephanie Hollingsworth, Angela Tormey, Dustin Koble, all of Jamestown; two great-grandkids, Alaysha Tormey and Solomon Tormey, both of Jamestown; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Reinhold Everding; brother-in-law, Arthur Brown; and one nephew, Paul Everding.
In lieu of flowers, memorials perferred to the charity of your choice.
Funeral Service: 11:00 AM, Friday, July 31, 2009 at the First Baptist Church, Jamestown, with Pastor Bryce Tahran and Pastor Wayne Bangs officiating.
Visitation: 1:00 to 8:00 PM, Thursday, July 30, 2009 at the Eddy Funeral Home in Jamestown, ND.
Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, North Dakota.
