Harry Helmstetler

Harry Helmstetler, 87, Jamestown, ND, died Friday, September 9, 2011 at the Jamestown Regional Medical Center.

Harry was born August 6, 1924 in Max, ND the son of Herman and Agnes (Mattson) Helmstetler. Shortly after Harry's birth, the family moved to the Ypsilanti, ND area, where he attended rural Ypsilanti schools. In 1941 they moved to the Kensal/Courtenay area where they farmed until 1974. Harry married Alda Rose Kienast on January 2, 1943 in Jamestown. They moved to Jamestown and Harry was a crop adjustor for many years.

Harry liked visiting with friends at the mall and he especially enjoyed attending his grandchildren's activities. He was an avid Blue Jay sports fan.

Harry is survived by one daughter, Elaine Timm, Kensal, ND; three sons, James Helmstetler, Chandler, AZ, Charles (Linda) Helmstetler, Colorado Springs, CO and George (Diane) Helmstetler, Jamestown; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Sally (Wendell) Simonsen, Kensal.

He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; three brothers; three sisters; and one son-in-law, Leon Timm.
