Harry Miedema, 89, Jamestown, North Dakota died Monday, May 16, 2005 at Rock of Ages in Jamestown.
Harry was born August 13, 1915 in rural Ypsilanti, North Dakota the son of Ernest and Allie (VandenBerg) Miedema. He attended rural Barnes County schools. Harry worked on the family farm and during the fall he traveled to Iowa to custom harvest. On October 4, 1939 he married Margaret Elliott in Valley City, ND. They made their home on a farm near Ypsilanti for 44 years. They moved to Litchville, ND in July of 1983. Margaret died on September 25, 1986. Harry continued to farm until 1997. He moved to Rock of Ages in Jamestown in 2001.
Harry enjoyed woodworking and farming. He also enjoyed playing cards, bingo, going out to lunch with family and driving trips in the country.
Harry is survived by three daughters, Shirley (Bruce) DuVall, St. Joseph, MO; Carol (Raymond) Erbele, Streeter, ND and Charlotte (Allen) Enger, Jamestown, one son, Leroy (Bev) Miedema, Jamestown, 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, three sisters, Mildred Hanson and Joyce Van Dyke, both of Valley City and Bertha Van Enk, Greenville, SC and a sister-in-law, Lorraine Miedema, Edgeley, ND.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter and son-in-law, Marlene and Jim Vondergeest, a grandson, Allen DuVall, great-grandson, Cassidy Erbele, four brothers, Joe, Andrew, Harold and John and three sisters, Marie Boom, Tracy DeVries and Evelyn Siderius.
Funeral Service: 1:00 PM, Friday, May 20, 2005 at the North Marion Reformed Church, Marion, North Dakota with Pastor Paul M. Peterson and Rev. Craig Vondergeest officiating.
Visitation: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Wednesday, May 18, 2005 and 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Thursday, May 19, 2005 at the Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown.
Prayer Service: 7:30 PM, Thursday, May 19, 2005 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel.
Burial: North Marion Reformed Church Cemetery, Marion, North Dakota.
