Hartley Hoyt

Hartley Hoyt, 73, Jamestown, ND died Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Sanford Health in Fargo, ND after suffering from an aneurysm.

Hartley was born June 19, 1944 at New Rockford, ND, the son of John and Avanelle (Ryan) Hoyt. He grew up in the McHenry, ND & Tolna, ND areas, graduating from Tolna, ND High School in May 1962. He entered the United States Air Force in January 1963 and served his Country in Germany until November 1966 as an Airman First Class.

Hartley & Judy (Harding) Hoyt were married on October 28, 1967 in McHenry, ND. They made their home in Jamestown, ND where they raised their 2 daughters, Rhonda & Barbara. He was employed as Shop Foreman and Mechanic at Stutsman County Road Department for 39 years, retiring in 2006.

Hartley was an avid golfer and thoroughly loved the sport and also bowled for many years as well. He was a true fan of the Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Twins. His biggest joy was watching his grandsons play football and his granddaughters play basketball and dance performances. Hartley’s amazing smile and generosity and great sense of humor will be missed; his passion for life was unending.

Hartley was a member of the American Legion, American Legion Color Guard, Trinity Lutheran Church and Men of Trinity in Jamestown. He was also a member of the Hillcrest Men’s Golf Association, Jamestown.

Hartley is survived by his wife, Judy, Jamestown; 2 daughters, Rhonda Hennings, Ypsilanti, ND and Barbara (Curt) Eli, Carrington, ND. 5 grandchildren, Jessica Hennings, Fargo, ND, Tyler Hennings, Jamestown, ND, Dustin Hennings, Jamestown, ND, Brianna Eli, Fargo, ND and Kiera Eli, Carrington, ND. 3 siblings, LuVerne (Darlene) Hoyt, McHenry, ND, DeLane (Peggy) Hoyt, Tolna, ND, Artha (Harlan) Sigdahl, Aneta, ND.

Hartley was preceded in death by his parents, John & Avanelle Hoyt and in laws, Ralph & Ann Harding and brother, Milton Hoyt.

Funeral Service – 11:00 am Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Jamestown, ND.

Visitation – 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown, ND

Burial – Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, ND
