Helen Darkenwald, 93, Wimbledon, ND died Tuesday, September 26, 2006 at her daughter's home near Deerwood, Minnesota.
Helen Borgeson was born January 16, 1913 in Iowa, the daughter of John and Louise (Schildman) Borgeson. She attended grade school in LaCrosse, WI and graduated from Fargo Central High School in 1930. Helen received a BS degree in Home Economics from North Dakota State University. She taught Home Ec and English at Wimbledon High School for several years. On March 30, 1940 she married Marshall Darkenwald in Wimbledon. They lived and operated a farm in Uxbridge Township, Barnes County, ND. Her husband passed away in May 2004.
Helen is survived by a son, James of Bloomington, MN; two daughters, Mary Lou (Tom) Swenson, Deerwood, MN and Patricia (Gerald) Meier, Bismarck, ND; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
Funeral Service: 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 30, 2006 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Wimbledon with Father Steve Meyer officiating.
Visitation: 1:00 to 6:00 PM, Friday, September 29, 2006 at the Eddy Funeral Home in Jamestown.
Vigil: 7:00 PM, Friday, September 29, 2006 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Wimbledon.
Burial: St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery, Wimbledon, North Dakota.
