Helen Delaney

Helen Mary Barbara Bagus Delaney also known as “Helen Mae”, age 89, passed away peacefully in her sleep May 26, 2019. She was born October 11, 1929 in rural Hankinson ND to Herman and Georgiana (Kinn) Bagus. She attended St. Francis Academy, graduating in 1947, and then Nursing School in Breckenridge. She met some of her best, lifelong friends there. After graduating she was employed as an RN at the Hot Springs SD VA Hospital, transferring later to the Fargo VA Hospital. She worked as an RN for the VA for 44 years, retiring in 1995. She married the love of her life, Lyall Vernon Delaney, in 1961, who preceded her in death in 1979. They had two children, Jeanne and Lyall. She was a devout Catholic and spent her final years enjoying the company of everyone at Ave Maria Village in Jamestown ND.

Helen loved her family. She was an avid cards player, particularly bridge. She loved socializing and was always the life of the party. She especially enjoyed traveling (especially to Stonehenge) and was able to take many trips with her children and family.

Helen is survived by her children, Jeanne Delaney (Fritz Fremgen) and Lyall Delaney; grandchildren Kristi (Eric) Felland, Kelli (Tim) Holmgren; Elizabeth, Leo, and Ava Fremgen; great-grandchildren Autumn, Gunner, Connor and Logan; and many friends and family.

A Prayer Service will be held on Wednesday, May 29, at the Good Shepherd Chapel, Ave Maria Village, Jamestown, at 7:00 p.m. preceded by the Rosary at 6:45 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, May 30, at the Good Shepherd Chapel, Ave Maria Village at 2:00 p.m.
